Do dental implants get paid for by the VA?

Dental implants are one form of dental care that is covered by the VA at no cost to veterans who fall into one of the aforementioned service eligibility categories. Is dental care included in CHAMPVA’s benefits package?

When it comes to healthcare, no one does it better than the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), which runs the comprehensive Civilian Health and Medical Program of the VA (CHAMPVA). Eligible veterans pay a percentage of the total cost of VA-provided healthcare.

In spite of CHAMPVA’s excellent medical coverage in general, its dental benefits are severely lacking. CHAMPVA does not provide dental coverage under normal conditions.

Regrettably, dental care covered by CHAMPVA is typically restricted to conditions that affect another medical condition. We do not pay for checkups, cleanings, dentures, or orthodontic work.

CHAMPVA now has an outpatient deductible cost of $50 per calendar year if you are eligible for one of the listed dental procedures.

At a maximum of $3,000 per year, CHAMPVA will pay 25% of the approved amount for your care. If you meet one of the following criteria, CHAMPVA will cover your spouse or widow AND your children.

• It’s a perfect score for you. Disability resulting from military service that prevents you from ever returning to work the veteran died from a service-connected disability or was rated as permanently and completely handicapped owing to a service-connected condition.

• The veteran passed away while on active duty, and the surviving family members do not qualify for TRICARE under any other circumstances
