Learn How to Prepare and Be Successful for Your Security Guard Job Interview

3. Gather Your References

Bring a list of three to four references to indicate your interest in the role and organizational skills. If the interview goes well, you will be one step closer to employment. It demonstrates that you are a well-organized, results-oriented person.

4. Get into Character

Dress appropriately for the job you want! First impressions matter, and it only takes seconds for someone to create an opinion about you. Appearances are crucial. It would be best if you refrained from wearing:

  • Jogging pants
  • Tee shirts
  • Runners
  • Flip flops, and so on.

Instead, dress professionally:

  • Suits
  • Dress pants
  • Skirt
  • Blazer
  • Dress, etc

Dressing professionally will allow you to be taken seriously and help you make an excellent first impression.

5. Arrive on Time

You are late if you are on time! As a general guideline, you should arrive 15 minutes before your allocated interview time. This will give you plenty of time to secure a parking spot and keep you from feeling rushed and irritated before the interview begins.

6. Nonverbal Communication

Words are not as powerful as actions! Throughout the interview, be attentive to your body language and energy. Slouching and crossing your arms will make you appear uninterested, whereas sitting up straight will make you appear focused and interested.

Always shake the interviewers’ hands and introduce yourself. This is a beautiful display of respect and professionalism.
